One of my most popular workshops, this is a photographic adventure into the rich cultural heritage of Portugal, a country whose deep and profound relationship with their horses dates back to medieval times. The Portuguese are well known for their beautiful and revered Lusitano horses that they have bred and developed for centuries, not just for their appearance, but for their athleticism, their intellect and nature, and their willingness and desire to bond with a human. We are only offering one workshop in Portugal for 2025, and it will probably fill up quickly.
One of the things we have loved about previous years’ workshops is the number of purebred stallions that we had the opportunity to work with. These horses are not only beautiful, they are powerful, and embody the pure spirit of the horse like no other.
During our week together, we will spend time at some of the most recognized breeders and trainers in Portugal, and I really feel privileged that so many have invited us back.
This is a 6-day, 7-night workshop that includes private accommodations for every participant in a very nice hotel, breakfast, transportation to and from the airport, plus transportation to all the different locations throughout the week. All you have to do is arrive in Portugal, and we will take care of everything once you arrive. Emphasis is on being creative and playful, and having fun, as we have found this approach to be much more effective than “classroom style” learning. Tony will share, in his own down-to-earth way, his 40+ years of experience during the shoots, and will cover the many elements involved in photographing horses.
Participants will all stay together. There will also be time to explore the local area and get a taste of the Portuguese culture.
